Wake Up Sid!!
Coming from the house of Dharma Productions, Wake Up Sid has a lot to live up to. Coupled with the hype around Ranbir and you have people lining up for the ‘paid’ premier even at 10.30PM. Well, not my cup of tea, butttt, wouldn’t say they were duped. The movie is good, and I mean GOOD.
The story. Sid is an average college goer, who has no ambition, no goals in sight. He takes things as they come his way, with a camera in his hand. During his college farewell party he comes across this gal Ayesha. Shes new in bombay(oops!! mumbai.. i hope the “marathi manoos” don’t tear down this blog too!!) and soon the two become good friends. Back at home, Sid is lured into the family business by dad but.. 7 days later Mr. Sid is out, in the open air, where he belongs!!
Post some drama, Sid leaves his parents’ house and starts living with his *new* friend Ayesha. Its here, that he realizes the importance of having a goal in life, being responsible and independent. And don’t worry, Sid is still the same. No change in the way he sees life even after this realization. A very important message there, being responsible doesn’t mean you can’t have fun or that you become boring!! Soon, lands a job where Ayesha is working. The two still treat each other as good friend and not anything more.
As time passes, Ayesha grows fonder of Sid and falls for him but Sid, being the man, rather, the boy he is, still doesn’t “see” anything. As things work out, Sid moves back to his parents’ house but . . .
A mast time pass flick you WILL enjoy!
The Rip Off Factory – Bollywood!! PART TWO
PART ONE
OK, so here is the next lot,
17. E.T = KOI MIL GAYA
E.T(1982) is directed by Steven Spielberg and stars Henry Thomas, Dee Wallace, Robert MacNaughton, Drew Barrymore and Peter Coyote. It tells the story of Elliott (played by Thomas), a lonely boy who befriends a friendly extraterrestrial, dubbed “E.T.”, who is stranded on Earth. Elliott and his siblings help the extraterrestrial return home while attempting to keep it hidden from their mother and the government.
Koi Mil Gaya(2003) is directed by Rakesh Roshan and thus, HAS to star Hrithik Roshan, others being Priety Zinta, Rekha and a host of child artists. Now, Roshan Sr knew for it to click, it has to appeal to the younger audience. For it to appeal to the younger audience, there has to be something he can relate to. With Hrithik in the cast, job became even difficult. So, to introduce familier turf, schools, games, picnics etc, Hrithik has to make do with the role of a mentally challanged kid who fails every year. This probably would have been the only brain-storming that has gone into making this movie apart from the absolute essential ones deciding on songs, costumes, locations speacial effects etc. Watch it if you absolutely have to.
The movie was a big hit and Hrithik was praised no end for his performance. Read the rest of this entry

The Rip Off Factory – Bollywood!! PART ONE
What counts in Bollywood is Time and money!! Writers under pressure from the directors/producers more often than not pick up a hollywood DVD, copy the script, filter out some stuff that might not be appropriate for the Indian public, throw in some songs and voila! We have a new movie. These rip-offs, obviously are mostly horrid. Here am writing about some that I have come across,
